Privacy and children's data
Version 2026-10-16. We will tell parents by email before any important change to how we use children's information.
Who we are
Raising Girls (theraisinggirls.com and squad.theraisinggirls.com) runs the Squad, EquipHer, Bootcamp, Reading Challenge and Thrive programmes. Contact us about privacy at askirene@theraisinggirls.com, parentingchampions.ng@gmail.com or WhatsApp +234 813 685 3900.
Our programmes are for girls, so parents come first
Squad serves girls aged 3 to 17. A girl never signs herself up. Only a parent or guardian can register her, and the parent agrees to this notice before her daughter's details are saved. A girl opens her app only on a phone her parent has approved.
What we collect about your daughter
- Her first name, age group and birth year.
- Her learning: lessons watched, card answers, tasks, quiz answers, Talent Community work and stars earned.
- Wall posts she chooses to share. Staff approve every post before other girls in her group can see it. Only her first name is shown.
- Prayer requests and faith-card reflections. Only the Chaplain and the Safeguarding Lead can read these.
- Files she uploads for a task, kept privately.
We do not ask for her surname, school, home address or photo, and we don't sell or advertise with anyone's information.
What we collect about you
Your name, email, WhatsApp number and payment records, so we can run your membership, send receipts and reminders, and confirm returning-family prices.
Who else handles information
- Supabase stores the app's records and files.
- Paystack processes card payments. We only keep the payment reference and amount.
- Resend sends our emails to parents.
- YouTube plays lesson videos in its privacy-enhanced mode.
- Zoom hosts live sessions. Girls join through a link that opens shortly before the session starts.
- WhatsApp is used when you choose to message us.
Your rights as a parent
At any time you can review what we hold about your daughter, ask us to delete it, or refuse further collection. Open Membership in your Squad account and use Privacy and your daughter's records to download her records or send a request. You can also email or WhatsApp us. If you withdraw consent, her access stops.
How long we keep it
Unfinished sign-up forms are deleted after 7 days. Your daughter's learning records are kept while she is a member. After she leaves, you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Keeping it safe
Each person only sees what their role needs: a girl sees her own work, a parent sees her own daughters, and mentors and facilitators see only the girls they work with.
